He Knows My Name
Have you ever forgotten someone’s name? Do you know that it’s easy to forget someone’s name, and it does happen? I’ve said before, “I know that persons face, but I can’t remember their name”. Or has this ever happened to you – you’re greeting someone and you give them the wrong name! Now that’s something that will make you want to go and crawl under a rock!
Our name is a word or group of words, by which we’re known and identified by. People may sometimes forget your name, but there’s someone who will never forget your name, and that’s God. There’s someone who knew you before you were even born, and that’s God. Looking down from His throne up above, He knows each and everyone of us by our name. He also knows our struggles and pains, our tears that sometimes fall, and He hears every prayer and sees the longing, desire, and passion of our heart. We’re not tiny, small particles or dots to Him. He’s our Maker and Father who loves us and we’re worth so much to Him! This should be enough for us to continue to worship Him with an everlasting love, just because of who He is.
There is a song of worship that simply describes Him knowing us by name. “He Knows My Name”, by Israel & New Breed is a song that you can let minister to you when a time may come in your life where it feels and seems like everyone has forgotten you and your name. This song will help you realize just how special you are to Him. Not only does He know us by name, He also has a purpose for our lives and He calls us His own. He knew and knows what we’re going to go through and face, even before we know it! He’ll never leave us; He walks with us wherever we may go. We also want others to know that we know His name! Day by day, we come in contact and interact with a lot of people that don’t know us and may never come in contact with us again, from a lonely lost person walking down the street with tears, sharing that they really don’t “want to be here anymore”, to the waiter waiting your table at the restaurant. How we respond to others will be a witness to our relationship with the Lord.
Let’s remember that when our lives are displaying the “f-o-t-s” (fruit of the Spirit); we’re showing to whom we belong. And let’s not forget we’re also showing our name and character too, and that God loves us.
Lord, we thank you on this day for recognizing and knowing us by name. When we come to you in prayer, you know each of us individually and there is no one like you. You know us better than we know ourselves. Our prayer also is to display what your name and love is all about. Thank you for loving and calling us your own. Amen.
Scripture of the Day – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
